Fifty musically talented Air Cadets from across Central & East Region, RAF Air Cadets, came together at Royal Air Force Station, Henlow, to practice their musical skills.
Under the direction of Squadron Leader Alan Glover and a dedicated staff team both the Marching Band and the Concert Band were put through their paces during a weekend schedule of hard practice that aimed at unifying the many individual talents into high quality musical units.
The members of the Concert Band arrive at the weekend already proficient in their particular instrument and during their time at Henlow learn the repertoire from classic to popular music performed in harmony with all the other musicians. For several, this is the first time they have played within such a large group.
The drummers and Drum Majors of the Marching Band practised their percussion and marching skills outside making the most of the early Autumn weather. Looking very smart and almost perfect with their drill, the band first became accustomed with marching together before they picked up their instruments and learned the difficult art of marching and playing, in tune and in step.
The band are desperately looking for a Grade 5 Keyboard Player to join them and are still on the lookout for other musicians of Grade 3 and above to join this talented group and fulfil the engagements already in the diary. If you are interested, please contact email@example.com
